Verdict Early signs show the PSE tag has potential. Performance is okay but the chassis and steering are a bigger draw. We like the looks and much of the interior, but in a £56k estate the compromised practicality is annoying. Mileage: 2,257 Economy: 44.7mpg Once, if you wanted a fast Peugeot, it would have been powered solely by petrol and relatively affordable. Plus – given that it probably had a GTi badge on its boot – you knew that, in the most part, it would ride and handle well. Peugeot made a return to form recently with its 208 and 308 GTi hot hatchbacks, which makes it all the more interesting that it’s confined ‘GTi’ to the history books –…
Verdict When we first drove the Peugeot in 2009, we reported: “The 5008 is a surprise. Mature styling, a compliant ride and sweet handling are matched by a punchy yet frugal range of petrol and diesel powerplants... But it’s the interior that matters on a car like this, and Peugeot has done a superb job.” We still like the car’s handling, ride comfort and cabin, but reliability and build quality can be an issue. Scrutinise any potential purchase carefully before buying. If you do lots of short journeys, it’s worth buying a 1.6 THP to avoid diesel particulate filter issues (the VTi is best avoided as it has little zest), but petrol 5008s are rare. The 1.6 HDi engine is…
"The Peugeot 308 is a comfortable, stylish family hatchback with a great interior but it’s not the most practical” The Peugeot 308 is a family hatchback that’s had a complete makeover; its eye-catching looks are a big selling point but there are plenty of other reasons to consider buying one. The 308 is an alternative to the Ford Focus, SEAT Leon and Volkswagen Golf, and it shares parts with other similar models, including the Citroen C4 and the latest Vauxhall Astra. There are petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engine options but there’s no choice of gearbox; the only option is an automatic, which means there’s no low-cost entry-level model to compete with basic versions of the Focus or Golf. It’s…
The new 2022 Peugeot 3008 SUV as a refresh for US market Peugeot has running the new mission and rebrand their vehicles to re-enter the US market. After much market research to prepare for the launch, the automobile maker has decided to return to the American market with a laser focus on the American car buyer and their needs - possibly as soon as 2021. After a bit of a break from exploring US markets, Peugeot has taken the time to reframe their mission and rebrand their vehicles in preparation for a reemergence into…
In a B segment tending ever more towards the Peugeot brand sets itself apart in introducing the alluring new Peugeot 208. While ACEA data for May is awaited, April was a good month for Peugeot in Europe. Even though the new 208 is known about, the existing car remains popular, its sales (84,054) being only slightly behind the Ford Fiesta (84,703) and giving it seventh position overall for the year to date. Neither of these models can catch the Polo (102,410) and segment-leading Clio (119,774) though. The new 2022 Peugeot 208 offers, right from launch, three different energy source options – electric, petrol or diesel. Body line no longer dictates vehicle usage. This new Peugeot 208 generation, which fits perfectly…
